My husband isn’t always one to take a hint, especially when it comes to Christmas gifts. In the past, I’ve dropped strong suggestions about wanting such things as a new couch, a gift certificate to my favorite cosmetics store and jewelry. His response has been to buy me things like a new set of pots and pans, a vacuum cleaner, unflattering underwear and a cat. I like the cat -she’s still around- but other than that, his track record over the past decade has been abysmal. So when he asked what I wanted last Christmas and I said I’d like a membership at iWin to Download Games, I was expecting to find a treadmill or maybe a new flat screen TV. But darned if he didn’t come through and give me an iCoins platinum membership, which gives me a full year of playing my secret obsession, hidden object games.

I’m so excited about this. I just love playing video games on the computer, especially now that the kids are grown up and off to college; I just seem to have a little more spare time on my hands than I was expecting. I like reading, so I’ve been able to indulge myself with plenty of library books, but the other thing I enjoy and that helps to keep my mind sharp is playing hidden object games. Arcade games and shoot ‘em ups don’t do much for me, but something with nice graphics that makes you actually think instead of just mashing buttons is very relaxing. I have to hand it to my husband, he did it right this year. I’m thinking that for next Christmas I might start dropping hints for a new widescreen computer monitor.
